The MCM Comic Con was a very joyful and very emotional event. The cast of the Amazon series ‘The Boys’ were completely impressed when representatives from Guinness World Records appeared on stage. They not only delivered an album, but a double that attests to the program’s tremendous international appeal. The moment was really exciting when Karl Urban, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone and Karen Fukuhara were secured together to receive the awards.

In video of the event, Urban could be heard clearly saying how grateful he is. The emotion in his voice was really strong when he addressed the audience. He took a moment to recognize the people behind the screen who made the show’s success possible. He quoted the show’s creator Eric Kripke by name, referring to him as the “captain of the ship” and praising his direction. Urban thanked Amazon and Sony Pictures, the production giants, for their continued support of the series and thanked them.

He pointed out the fantastic team and, above all, the loyal public. They talked about how grateful they are to the audience for sticking with the show even after the fourth season. Urban also hinted at the future by saying that the cast is very happy to return for the already confirmed fifth season, which is a strong sign that the show has impacted the culture and built a strong connection with its audience.

The public reaction was overwhelmingly positive. The most enthusiastic of all was a Comic Con attendee who said he felt a “huge wave of emotions and wrote, ‘It was so wonderful to be there, I heard the sentiment and gratitude in his (Urban’s) voice.'” An audience member echoed this thought, saying, ‘Same thing. It was great to be in the theater and hearing Karl’s (Urban’s) thanks at the end makes me look forward to what the guys have prepared for us.’ The moment was very powerful and left a strong impression on the audience present.

Another person was very happy and couldn’t contain his compliment and kept shouting: ‘I WAS CLOSE TO THE FRONT!’ The viewer along with the sign and one of the ears, however, did not stop there with just that boast but continued to debate the topic of the teaser about the scar and Urban’s narrative, which turned out to be a very captivating talk about one of the resistant themes of ‘The Boys’: audience participation and the speculation that the show always generates.

In addition to the excitement caused by the announcement of the world records, the panel was for many the highlight of the convention. One first-time Comic Con visitor called it “a great panel to enjoy today on the main stage during my first Comic Con!” Another was even more excited, saying, “I’m glad the kids are getting the recognition they deserve. There’s a group of amazing creators on that show.” The comments together painted the picture of a very successful and unforgettable event for both the cast and the fans.

The awards validate the quality of The Boys as an important player in the contemporary television landscape. The series has toasted its now doubly guaranteed world record position in the past and present flow of pop culture. The surprise MCM Comic Con gala was truly a fitting tribute to the cast, crew and die-hard fan base without whom the show could not have reached these extraordinary heights. The event organizers did a wonderful job of combining celebration with the suspense of what is to come in the narrative.
