Now, in some post-Halloween miracle, they’ve gotten it right. From time to time something sensible it happens.

Late on Monday, November 3, the news broke.
Jonathan Bailey is PeopleSexiest Man Alive 2025.
“It’s a great honor,” he told the magazine in the new issue. “I’m obviously incredibly flattered.”
In a moment of mockery, he added: “And it is completely absurd.”
(No, Blake Shelton winning that title in 2017 was “completely absurd.” This, on the other hand, is a rare victory for People)
Bailey wowed audiences in traditional theater before becoming a familiar face on the small screen, let alone the big one.
He had a small role in wide church in 2013. The following year, he guest-starred in an episode of doctor who.
For many, Bailey first came to their attention as a voice actor for G’raha Tia in Final Fantasy XIVAs of the 2017 expansion, storm blood.
When Bridgerton Released on Netflix in late 2020, he played one of the central characters, Anthony Bridgerton.
This catapulted him into a much more visible on-screen role to wider international audiences. And, of course, putting it at the center of the most exciting romantic series on streaming.
Jonathan Bailey is a sex symbol
That was just the beginning of his widespread recognition and stardom.
In 2023, Jonathan Bailey co-starred Travel companions alongside heartthrob Matt Bomer. To date, they have some of the most authentic gripping scenes that you are likely to see on any show.
That role earned Bailey a Primetime Emmy Award nomination, as well as a Critics’ Choice Award.
He would go on to have a guest role in heartbreaker in 2023.
And of course, Bailey plays Fiyero in the two-part theatrical release of Wicked. This character is also a heartthrob, an amalgamation of Fiyero and Avaric from the Wicked novel. Evil: forever comes out on November 21st.
After the premiere of Bridgerton, Bailey internalized for the first time that her fame was growing.
“I had the radio on as an alarm and one morning it came on: ‘Here’s the news at 7. But just before we leave, can we talk about Jonathan Bailey?’” he shared.
It seems that Bailey still feels a sense of disbelief.
He recalled: “I was like, ‘Where’s my diary? Is this real?’ “It was wild.”

Los Angeles Times has described Jonathan Bailey as a sex symbol whose fans span “all genders and orientations.” They are not wrong!
Notably, he is also the first openly gay man to hold the title. This is a big problem, as queer actors – particularly queer men – are still marginalized and are sometimes discouraged from coming out by agents who worry about their marketability.
This is also the 40th year that People has led this often satirized category.
It’s amazing and refreshing to see that they got it right this time.
