‘I almost died during surgery and I saw what hell is really like’

Doctors struggled to bring Paty back after her operation, while she had a vision of an “ugly and desperate place.”

A singer says she “saw hell” after suffering complications during surgery that left doctors struggling to revive her. Paty Muñoz had to fight for her life as doctors struggled to wake her after surgery and says she had a chilling near-death experience while under anaesthetic.

The 57-year-old star said: “It was scary, it was difficult for me to come back from the anaesthetic. It was only for a short time, but there was a small risk. General anesthesia always carries a risk, no matter what you do.”

While unconscious, Paty said she endured a horrible sight. She said: “I was in a horrible dream. I remember it well. I was in a somewhat ugly and desperate place.

“It was like, I don’t know how to describe it, there was a lot of mud and heads coming out of the ground crying, like in a horror movie. “It was like hell.”

The Mexican-born artist said the ordeal occurred in 2019 during breast surgery, and the experience has left her deeply distrustful of plastic surgery ever since. She said the scare made her much more aware of the risks and even convinced her to quit smoking.

She said: “They told me ‘it was hard to wake you up, stop smoking’. I cut back a lot after that. “That was in 2019.”

Paty, who has enjoyed a brilliant 40-year career starring in film and television roles and performing with her band Las Bandidas, has since turned her attention to health and wellness. He still maintains a large online following, with 70,000 followers on Instagram and 20,000 fans on TikTok.
