Honey Health Raises .8M to Automate Healthcare Administrative Workflows with AI Agents

What you should know:

Honey healthan all-in-one AI platform for healthcare organizations, announced today that it has raised $7.8 million in seed funding led by Pelion Ventureswith the participation of simplified, Explosive capitaland 8 bit capital.

– The funding will accelerate the deployment of teams of specialized AI agents that autonomously complete complex administrative workflows directly within health systems.

Resolve the back office crisis with autonomy

Health systems and medical groups are currently caught between increasing administrative workloads and crippling non-clinical staff turnover, often running at 33% to 40% annually. Traditional solutions fail because they only solve limited tasks and require constant human supervision, leaving care teams stretched thin.

Honey’s platform is designed specifically for the mid-market and addresses the unique challenges of organizations facing mixed EHR environments and fragmented tools. The company was founded by Matt Faustman and Xiao Zhang, former engineering, product and AI leaders at LinkedIn, who were inspired by their own personal experiences with delays in care due to administrative bottlenecks.

Since launching in December, Honey has quickly partnered with more than 100 medical groups and health systems. Clients report significant financial returns, including annual profit gains of $50,000 to $65,000 per provider. These gains are due to reduced replacement costs for high-turnover roles and the ability to add revenue-generating vendors without proportionally expanding management teams.

“Healthcare organizations are caught between two broken models: point solutions that only solve specific tasks and a constant struggle to recruit and retain administrative staff,” said Matt Faustman, co-founder and CEO of Honey Health. “We’re offering something fundamentally different: teams of AI agents working autonomously in the background to complete entire workflows. Our customers wake up with work done, not with more tasks to manage.”

How Honey AI Agents Work

Unlike co-pilot solutions, Honey’s AI agents work autonomously, logging into systems, navigating interfaces, and completing entire jobs from start to finish, as if a trained staff member had completed the job. The company’s proprietary Loop Framework and Hive protocol enable its AI agents to be onboarded into most EHRs in less than 30 days.]This rapid integration and ability to work independently of the EHR mix is a critical advantage for managing complex healthcare systems and managed services organizations (MSOs).

Honey’s AI agents currently automate high-volume workflows, including:

  • Data collection: Recover data from external sources (laboratories, devices and other systems)].
  • Preparation of notes: Preparation of patient notes and charts ready for visit].
  • Prior Authorizations: Manage the entire authorization process.
  • Fax classification: Classify, route and archive faxes while extracting key details.
