Following the Moon: October 6, 2025
In the New Moon chart on September 21 we had Mars in the Tenth House square Pluto. (Click here to see the article and chart.) Whenever Mars and Pluto come together, especially in a difficult aspect, issues of power and domination tend to take center stage. We had multiple examples of that during the last lunation, including new developments in the President’s apparent “retaliation tour” and the Secretary of Defense lecturing an audience of 800 senior military leaders about how to be more sexist.
The conjunction of Neptune and Saturn was also a prominent factor in that New Moon chart. Saturn has a way of making something real out of Neptune’s weird clumsiness, and in this case, that harsh reality turned out to be a government shutdown.
The Full Moon chart for October 6 is not as intense as the last lunation chart (click on Full Moon to see the chart), but it by no means promises us a respite. Once again, we have Saturn and Neptune at an angle (although the conjunction with Neptune is a bit wide). It looks like we can count on another two weeks in which Neptune’s Madness and Saturn’s Judgment will make headlines. This does not bode well for the end of the government shutdown. Even if a deal is reached, it will likely be only a temporary solution.
However, there are also some positive indicators in this Full Moon chart. Venus is conjunct IC and although Venus is in a weak sign and the conjunction is wide, this seems to promise that the next two weeks will be more about peace than machismo. President Trump’s peace plan for Gaza might actually have teeth and lead to ending that horribly destructive conflict.
Venus in this chart is sextile Jupiter, which is strong by sign and powerfully placed in the First House. This is another indicator that, as far as most Americans are concerned, there will be a sense that things are getting better, or at least that the good news outweighs the bad. Of course, the First House always has more to do with how we want to be seen than how the world actually sees us. For that we have to look at the Tenth House, where the slippery Neptune is in charge, indicating that things are not as they seem.
Finally, we have Pluto. In the New Moon chart on September 21, Pluto was square Mars, which, along with its connection to power and intimidation, is also an indicator of violence. We said that in the series of shootings that marked the last two weeks. In this Full Moon chart, Mars has been removed from the picture and Pluto is instead square Mercury. This tells us that the power games of the next two weeks will be more about rhetoric than weapons. This is further proof that Congress will continue its futile “blame game” and that divisive language will once again dominate our politics, but if this anger and frustration is expressed in words instead of bullets, we should accept it as a victory.
In conclusion, I think the “interesting times” will continue over the next two weeks and we will see important events unfold. They simply won’t have the impact of a random shooting or the threat of civil war. For many of us, this might feel like a vacation, but that’s no reason to let our guard down.
