Following the Moon: October 21, 2025
I thought the prominence of Venus in the October 6 Full Moon chart (click here for article and chart) would benefit President Trump’s peace plan for the Israel-Gaza conflict and that appears to have been the case. Unfortunately, his effort to extend some of that Venusian love to the Russian invasion of Ukraine was much less successful.
I also said that the placement of Saturn and Neptune on that New Moon map seemed to guarantee that the government shutdown and the resulting Congressional “blame game” would continue. Meanwhile, the same president who negotiates peace agreements around the world seems determined to militarize American cities. These strange and confusing events are evidence of both Saturnian harshness and Neptunian confusion.
Fortunately, the New Moon chart for October 21 seems to put Neptune and Saturn in the background. (Click on New Moon to see the chart.) Instead, we have Pluto square the Sun and Moon, and that’s a very different animal. As I said before, the central issue with Pluto is always power, who has it and who doesn’t. Recently, it has been the expanded power of the executive branch of our government that has raised questions. This graph seems to promise more of this.
Pluto aspects often have a definitive quality. Either you have the power or you don’t. However, in this chart the Sun and Moon are placed in the Twelfth House of Secrets, indicating that what happens during this next lunation period will likely occur behind closed doors and will not be immediately apparent to the public.
Another factor is Jupiter’s wide opposition to Pluto and the planets’ square to the Sun and Moon. This indicates that the courts are going to play a decisive role in these events. For the moment, President Trump is counting on the Supreme Court to approve the sending of the military to Chicago and other American cities. This setting seems to indicate that this request will be blocked, but the actual result may not be so clear.
Another important feature of this chart is the close conjunction of Mercury and Mars in the First House. Last weekend there were several “No Kings” demonstrations in cities across the country. These were all peaceful and non-threatening affairs. However, this conjunction seems to tell us to expect more such demonstrations and counter-demonstrations that are much less peaceful and possibly violent.
This brings us back to Pluto’s square to the Sun and Moon. Pluto aspects often manifest in extreme actions. Sometimes it’s people without power who go to extremes to try to even the scales, and sometimes it’s people with power who push aside restrictions to achieve more. Either way, people get hurt, and often it’s those who don’t participate in the power play who are hurt the most. I think this is what we need to keep in mind as we enter the next lunation period.
