Following the Moon: November 5, 2025
Pluto was the dominant planet in the New Moon chart for October 21, 2025 (click here for article and chart), so I expect power to be a preeminent theme during the last lunation period. I feared this could lead to violence, but instead we gained the power of international trade. President Trump has touted his trade deal with China as a major achievement, but we must remember that Trump’s first term as president began with such an agreement and ended with the United States and China in a trade war.
There were other displays of power that were not as publicized. The FBI allegedly discovered and thwarted an ISIS-inspired terrorist plot, but information about the plot and the alleged terrorist has been scarce. Likewise, Trump’s efforts to place troops in American cities have once again been put on hold. He has appealed the case to the Supreme Court, but apparently that will be a matter for the next lunation.
This is not surprising considering that the Sun and Moon in the New Moon chart of October 21 were in the Twelfth House of Secrets. This usually coincides with periods in which results seem obscured and what is really important happens behind closed doors. We might expect to see a continuation of this situation, as in the November 5th Full Moon chart the Sun is on the Twelfth day. (Click on Full Moon to see the graph.) However, there are other factors in the chart that describe an upcoming lunation period that will be much more dramatic.
Chief among those concerns is the placement of Mars and Uranus in this horoscope. Mars is only a couple of degrees from the Ascendant in that chart and Uranus is a couple of degrees from the Descendant. More importantly, the two planets are within a degree of opposition aspect. Whenever we have planets close to the horoscope angles, a significant event is likely to occur, and whenever Mars and Uranus are in close aspect, we should expect something sudden and shocking to happen.
Of course, as has been the case for most of this year, difficult aspects to Uranus, Neptune or Pluto in a lunar chart are accompanied by positive aspects. Therefore, it is not surprising that Mars is also trine Neptune and that Uranus is trine Pluto. These “soft” aspects might be expected to calm the negativity of the opposition, but given the prominent placement of Mars and Uranus, I am not sure how effective that calming influence will be.
Elsewhere in the chart we have a T square Pluto and Jupiter square Venus, which is strongly placed in Libra. Since Jupiter and Pluto are in houses (Second and Eighth) associated with money and (along with love and beauty) Venus can symbolize money, this arrangement could signal bad news for the economy. It may not seem like it at the time because both Venus and Jupiter are optimistic by nature, but Pluto in this T-square indicates that deep structural problems will come to light.
Another indicator of optimism is the trine between Jupiter and the conjunction of Neptune and Saturn. Neptune covers Saturn’s tough conversations with a fog of bright expectations. Those expectations may never come true, while the harsh needs of Saturn certainly will, but under this aspect we tend to put our faith in expectations.
This brings us back to the opposition of Mars and Uranus. We commonly associate Mars and Uranus with violence, and that could easily be what comes out of this card. However, Uranus is also the planet of intellectual clarity. There is no solace to be found in this Uranian clarity. It violates both our expectations and our optimism, but sometimes that’s what the times demand.
I think this will be a period of explosive lunation. Some of this explosiveness could manifest itself in acts of violence, but I think explosions are more likely to occur in the realms of politics, economics, and international relations. However, to see the importance of these explosions it will be necessary to have a good eye and an appetite for clarity,
