Specialty chemicals company LANXESS now offers its established lubricant additive Additin RC 2515 in a new ISCC PLUS certified version. Here, more than 80 percent of the raw materials used come from sustainable sources and are verified according to the ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) standard. This process allows renewable raw materials to be integrated into production. At the same time, it ensures that material use can be fully traced and audits can be carried out by independent institutions. This new version reduces PCF by 34% compared to the existing product. In this way, customers in the lubricant industry benefit from verifiable sustainability information and can manufacture their products in a more environmentally friendly way.
LANXESS has introduced an ISCC PLUS certified version of its Additin RC 2515 lubricant additive, made with more than 80 percent sustainable raw materials and a 34 percent lower carbon footprint. By carrying the Scopeblue label, it ensures traceable and environmentally friendly production, while maintaining high performance under extreme pressure for various industrial applications.
The new additive also carries the Scopeblue label. The company uses this label to identify products that consist of at least 50% recycled or bio-based raw materials and have a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to conventional products.
Excellent performance under extreme pressure
This sulfur-bearing product, light in color and low in odor, is produced by the mass balance method. With high lubricity and medium sulfur activity, the additive performs well in extreme pressure applications. Due to its low reactivity with non-ferrous metals, it is well suited for the lubrication of alloy components such as brass and bronze. Additin RC 2515 is extremely versatile: it can be used for metalworking fluids, heavy metal-free EP greases, slide guide lubricants and industrial gear oils.
ISCC PLUS certification for the LANXESS site in Mannheim
LANXESS recently received ISCC PLUS certification for its Mannheim production facility, further strengthening the site’s important role in its global lubricant additives business. “With ISCC PLUS certification and the more sustainable version of Additin RC 2515, we are sending a clear message: high-performance lubricant additives and sustainability go hand in hand. Our product offers customers new opportunities to reduce their CO2 footprint,” he says. Neelanjan Banerjee, Head of Lubricant Additives Business Unit.
With this new product, LANXESS is expanding its portfolio of certified sustainable products that meet the growing market demand for climate-friendly solutions.
