Last night in Los Angeles, the LACMA Art + Film Gala returned for another evening filled with style, star power, and awards, all in the name of philanthropy.
Launched in 2011 as a way to raise funds for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s film program, as well as educational initiatives, acquisitions and exhibitions, the annual event is the brainchild of LACMA trustee Eva Chow, who has co-chaired each year with Leonardo DiCaprio. This Saturday’s gala pays tribute to artist Mary Corse and filmmaker Ryan Coogler.
Every Hollywood red carpet is sure to be fashionable, but when the presenting sponsor of an event is Gucci, as is the case here, the stakes for the gala inevitably rise. At the 2022 gala, Billie Eilish arrived in a Gucci monogrammed robe and pajamas (mask included), while Jared Leto strolled around in a dazzling pink velvet suit (no shirt) and matching pink hair. Greta Lee’s black and mint green slip dress for 2023 was an early indication that her fashion star was on the rise, and last year, Sofia Richie Grainge stuck to the understated luxe suit in a sleek chocolate brown Saint Laurent look.
