Emirates SkyCargo has expanded its operations in East and Southeast Asia with the launch of a new weekly cargo service to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK).
The new route improves connectivity for regional exporters, providing greater flexibility to move goods around the world through the airline’s hub in Dubai.
Already operating the largest and most diversified route network of any non-Asian airline, Emirates SkyCargo now serves 43 global destinations with its fleet of dedicated cargo aircraft, including 11 in East and Southeast Asia.
Thailand’s growing role in advanced manufacturing has made it an increasingly important market for air cargo. Guided by the government’s ‘Thailand 4.0’ economic framework, the country is investing heavily in high-tech sectors such as next-generation automotive, smart electronics, biotechnology and robotics.
Emirates SkyCargo’s specialized product portfolio and widebody fleet of over 260 aircraft are ideally suited to support the movement of these high-value, delicate products, along with key exports such as apparel and stone fruits.
Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, said: “Our operations in East and Southeast Asia are among the broadest in our global network, from flight frequencies, freighter deployment, available capacity and served gateways.
“However, demand is exponential and therefore the region will form the basis of our expansion plans until 2026 and beyond.
“Markets like Thailand and Vietnam are the new heart of global trade, with established modern manufacturing capabilities, evolving digital economies and world-class logistics infrastructure.
“We do not see demand slowing and we are prepared to support the region’s growth with fast, reliable and efficient movement of goods around the world.”
In response to sustained growth, Emirates SkyCargo has also increased the frequency of its cargo flights in and out of Hanoi to four weekly services. Three connect directly to Dubai World Central (DWC), while a fourth route links Dubai, Taipei and Hanoi, offering improved connectivity for Vietnamese exporters.
A sixth weekly freighter has also been deployed to Guangzhou, reflecting high demand for consumer electronics, e-commerce and electrical products from mainland China. To ensure stable capacity during peak and seasonal periods, the airline continues to roll out additional ad hoc cargo services across Asia.
During the last three decades, Emirates SkyCargo has steadily expanded its presence in East and Southeast Asia. The airline now operates 45 scheduled cargo services, 13 charter flights and 315 passenger flights each week at 25 gateways in the region, offering around 21,000 tonnes of total weekly capacity.
