Someone almost slit disgraced rapper Diddy’s throat.

It’s possible Trump could commute or pardon the rapper at any time.

Barring that, he’s headed to a prison where his 50-month sentence will be a little safer than his current notorious jail.

Either way, he came awfully close to dying behind bars.

Diddy almost had his throat cut in prison

Charlucci Finney said The daily mail about the assumption knife incident involving Diddy.

One of the nights the disgraced rapper was sleeping at MDC Brooklyn, he woke up with a knife pressed against his throat.

He was just seconds away from having his throat slit, according to the report.

Finney was unclear on the details of how his friend survived.

However, Diddy’s attorney, Brian Steel, told the judge that a guard intervened and detained the armed inmate.

Even Finney is quick to point out that the intent may not have been homicide.

Is possible that, particularly in such an infamous prison, the attack was random.

But no one seems to believe it. Infamous rappers tried for sensational crimes can easily become targets.

And, Finney noted, people facing trial for heinous sex crimes are at additional risk while incarcerated.

Although Diddy and Luigi Mangione are both in MDC Brooklyn, the nature of their positions supposedly makes Mangione as popular behind bars as he is in the rest of the country. The same thing, in a much darker sense, happens with the rapper.

Will he get a get out of jail free card? Maybe

As we previously reported, Diddy will serve a 50-month sentence in federal prison.

For some reason, the jury convicted him only of minor charges, and not of sex trafficking or extortion.

Even last summer, the rapper hoped for a pardon from Donald Trump, who has made extensive use of his office’s executive clemency powers.

(None more controversial than pardoning the attackers who stormed the Capitol on January 6, but it came close: flirting with the idea of pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell, for example.)

And, as we reported earlier this week, the rapper could also be on the receiving end of this blatant abuse of power.

It should be noted that it was TMZ who first reported that Trump could issue a commutation of the rapper’s sentence as soon as this week.

Interestingly, the White House has publicly denied that this is the case.

TMZ is defending his reports; Whether you like it or not, the tabloid is diligent when confirming your sources.

A pardon means that the recipient’s conviction is overturned. Yes, a jury of their peers convicted them, but evidence aside, they can go free. Trump did this for Todd and Julie Chrisley.

A commutation means that the sentence stands. However, the sentence is replaced with a lesser one, often leaving the recipient free. Trump did this for disgraced former congressman George Santos last week.

Incidents like this are bad, even when they happen to Diddy.

It’s very tempting to ignore this near-death experience because it was Diddy.

Why, it’s easy to ask, should we care what happens to an evil man?

But not everyone who is in jail or prison is bad. Some did not commit the crime for which they are behind bars, and others did commit the crime but should not face prison for it.

And everyone behind bars (yes, even the most evil scum out there) should be safe while incarcerated.

Because? Because every jail, every prison, will have innocent people, will have decent people, will have people who do not deserve violence, fear or pain.

As a society, we should design our prisons (from cells to showers and beyond) as we would if we knew, without a doubt, that a good, innocent person would spend years of their life there. and we doIn fact, I know.
