Charles will strip Prince Andrew of his last military title due to his connection to Epstein

This is not expected to have any impact on the medals Mountbatten Windsor received from his time in the Royal Navy, as they reflected his service, including his time as a helicopter pilot during the Falklands War.

Healey emphasized that the move reflected the King’s wishes.

“It’s hard to convey how important royalty and royal figures are, when they have honorary positions and their connection to the military,” Healey said.

“It’s a huge commitment that people in uniform take on. They come before the King and are enormously proud to have royalty associated with their regiment or their squadron.

“And this is a right move, it’s a move that the King has indicated we should take, and we are working on it right now.”

Polling firm YouGov found that 79 per cent of people thought the King had made the right decision last Thursday in removing Andrew’s titles and honours, going further than the former prince’s decision two weeks ago to renounce the use of his title of Duke of York.

“The public overwhelmingly supports the king’s decision to strip Andrew of his title of prince,” the pollster said, based on a survey of 4,739 respondents.

“But while they feel the king has made the right decision in the end, 58 per cent of Britons feel the royal family has acted too slowly in addressing the controversy.”

Only 21 percent said the speed of the decision was “about right” and the rest were unsure.

Turning to another question, however, there was majority support for the action so far: 53 percent said the King had done all he could. Another 28 percent said they could do more, but the survey did not list additional options that could win approval.
