Beyond the Surface: Why Your Chart Doesn’t Tell You Everything

I get emails every week from people who have had their charts read (sometimes multiple times) and are frustrated. “My astrologer said I would have a great career, but I’m stuck in a dead-end job.” “My D-9 shows a wonderful marriage, but I have been divorced twice.” “The letter promised spiritual gifts, but I can’t meditate for five minutes without my mind going crazy.”

This is what I tell you: your birth chart tells the truth. The promise is there. But it is being denied on a level that most astrologers never consider.

The graphs below the graph

Think of your birth chart as the blueprint. Beautiful design, everything in its place. But the plans don’t tell you if the foundation is cracked, if there is mold on the walls, if the electrical wiring is a disaster about to short out. That’s what the top divisional charts reveal: the hidden architecture that determines whether the promise in your chart truly manifests or remains trapped as a thwarted potential.

Most Vedic astrologers stop at Navamsha. Check D-9 for marriage, maybe take a look at D-10 for race and call it a day. But there are whole dimensions of your karma operating below that surface level, and if you don’t understand them, you’re reading half a chart and wondering why your predictions aren’t working out.

Where mental patterns become physical illnesses

Let me tell you what changed my approach to health astrology. I had a client: strong birth chart, decent D-9, nothing obviously bad. But a chronic illness, nothing that the doctors could specify. We looked at D-30, Trimsamsa, and there it was: a pattern of mental distress crystallizing into physical symptoms. The body tried to express what the mind could not process.

The D-30 shows how mental patterns manifest as health problems. Not only “Affected by Mercury means nervous system problems”, that is superficial. Trimsamsa reveals unconscious mental blocks, negative thought patterns that run on autopilot, inherited beliefs about your body that your conscious mind doesn’t even know you have.

When you understand this picture, you can see that disease forms at a causal level before it becomes a diagnosable disease. That’s when you can actually prevent suffering rather than just managing symptoms once they appear.

Combine that with D-27, which shows your mental attitudes toward health (if you have the discipline to do what’s good for you when Saturn tests you), and D-3, which reveals the primal energies and courage needed to fight health challenges, and suddenly you’re not just predicting health crises. You are understanding why they happen and what must change mentally and spiritually for healing to occur.

The karma you didn’t ask for

Here’s something most Western astrologers don’t want to touch: ancestral karma. We like to think that we are made by ourselves, that our problems are ours. But D-12 tells a different story.

The 8th house in Dwadasamsa reveals what you inherited from your father. Not just money, that’s the least important thing. I’m talking about your unresolved karma around power, your relationship with authority, your unconscious patterns with wealth and status. If you’ve never addressed your self-esteem and money issues, guess who’s in charge of addressing them? You do.

The third house shows what you inherited from your mother. Your emotional patterns, your mental stability or chaos, your way of nurturing or retaining. That comfort food addiction you can’t beat? That anxiety that seems to come out of nowhere? Check what your mother’s Moon was doing in your D-12.

Then we go deeper. The D-40 and D-45 transport you to your maternal and paternal lineage: grandparents, great-grandparents, ancestral patterns that you carry that go back generations. I’ve seen people struggle their entire lives with mysterious obstacles, sabotaging themselves in the same areas over and over again, and when we finally look at these charts, there it is: unfinished business from ancestors they never knew.

This is not mystical speculation. It’s on the chart, clear as day, if you know where to look.

Why spiritual practice fails

Someone comes to me with a “spiritual card”… Jupiter strong, 5th and 9th houses blessed, perhaps Ketu well placed in Pisces. They should be meditating like a saint. Instead, they can’t sit still for ten minutes, they doubt every teacher they meet, or their body rebels every time they try to establish a practice.

The D-20 shows me why. This chart reveals the specific obstacles to spiritual experience that Patanjali described centuries ago: bodily illnesses that arise during practice, inability to understand spiritual instructions, doubts about oneself or one’s teacher, mental restlessness. Every obstacle has an astrological signature in the Vimsamsa.

When you understand these blockages, you will be able to provide people with remedies that truly address the root of the problem rather than generic advice about meditation and mantras. You can see why someone with an “unlucky” card makes rapid spiritual progress while someone with all the advantages stays stuck at the surface level.

The 3D chess game

Life operates in multiple dimensions simultaneously. Your career is not just about the tenth house in your birth chart; it’s about whether D-3 shows that you have the courage to take risks, whether D-30 reveals mental patterns that sabotage success, whether ancestral karma in D-12 prevents you from receiving the inheritance (material or otherwise) that is yours.

I call this the 3D chess game and most astrologers play checkers. They are looking at one graph, maybe two, making predictions based on incomplete information and then wondering why they haven’t arrived on time or their remedies don’t work.

When you learn to synthesize these higher Vargas with the natal chart and the Navamsha, you will be able to read the DNA strands that make each life unique. You can see precisely why two people with similar birth charts have completely different results. You can understand why someone’s Jupiter dasha brought wealth and expansion, while another person’s Jupiter period brought legal problems and weight gain.

The painting is perfect; what is incomplete is our understanding.

What this course really teaches

Varga 2 is not about memorizing divisional chart meanings. Anyone can search “D-30 is for evil and misfortune.” That doesn’t tell you anything useful.

Let’s understand how mental patterns crystallize into physical illnesses. How your grandparents’ unresolved karma shows up as your psychological blind spots. How the primary energies inherited through your family line enhance your spiritual growth or sabotage it at every turn.

You will learn how to diagnose health problems before they become serious. Understand why talented people fail despite “great charts.” Discover ancient patterns that create mysterious blocks in money, relationships and career. Guide spiritual practice by identifying specific obstacles rather than offering generic advice. Time events accurately by observing transits through multiple Varga charts simultaneously.

And most importantly, you will learn to offer remedies that work at the right level, because you will finally understand where the problem really originates.

Who is this for?

If you get frustrated reading surface-level charts, this is for you. If you want to understand why some yogas manifest and others don’t, this is for you. If you are tired of giving the same generic remedies that don’t bring about real change, this is definitely for you.

I have designed the course to build progressively. If you understand basic Vedic astrology (houses, signs, planets, dashas), you will be ready for this material. Don’t let the technical complexity intimidate you. We start with the fundamentals and build toward synthesis.

For advanced students, this will transform your practice. You will learn techniques that teachers use but rarely explain clearly: chart rectification using the D-60, predicting health crises before they manifest, guiding clients through ancestral karma they don’t know they carry.

The real point

These Vargas exist to help you witness the game of karma without getting caught up in it. Understand the lessons offered so you don’t have to suffer them blindly. See the patterns (inherited, mental, spiritual) and make new decisions.

The planets are creating karmic circumstances so that we can get it right this time. Like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, waking up the same day until he finally learns to be kind and compassionate. The higher Vargas show you what you need to learn, what patterns you inherited, what mental adjustments will free you from repeating the same mistakes.

When you understand these charts, you will no longer be simply reading astrology. You are reading consciousness itself: the subtle levels where transformation truly becomes possible.

That’s what we’re exploring together in Varga 2. The microscopic details that make the difference.
