André Onana has endured a turbulent time at Manchester United since arriving two years ago, and now criticism has followed him into his international commitment to Cameroon.
The goalkeeper made a costly mistake in his team’s clash against Cape Verde, failing to come off his line to block striker Dailon Livramento. The striker calmly scored in the 54th minute, giving Cape Verde a surprising 1-0 victory.
Frustration boiled over after the game when fans stormed the field. A fan approached Onana from behind, phone in hand, appearing to film or take a photo. The goalkeeper reacted angrily, shoving the fan with his hand in the fan’s face, an incident captured by another spectator who recorded from the front.
The fan responded by throwing a water bottle at Onana before being ejected.

The flashpoint comes at a time of upheaval for the 28-year-old, with Manchester United recently signing Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
The loan to Turkish Trabzonspor is now finalized, and the two clubs reached an agreement before the international break.
For fans of the Turkish club, the hope is that Onana can not only rebuild his career on the field, but also keep his temper in check.
