ANA will retire its AirJapan brand after an internal review.
The airline’s aircraft and human resources will be consolidated into ANA brand operations to expand its international business, while the low-cost Peach brand will not be affected.
A statement from ANA Group said the decision was made to “optimize” the group’s resources, citing changes in the global environment, such as the prolonged war in Ukraine and delays in aircraft deliveries, with concerns that these problems will continue.

The statement also mentions the status of aircraft on the ground (AOG) regarding its Boeing 787. The group is one of the main users of the 787 with more than 130 aircraft. Like other airlines, it has faced continued engine difficulties, particularly with the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines. There has also been additional scrutiny on the type following the Air India crash, leading to planes spending more time on the ground for additional checks.
The merger of AirJapan’s hybrid operation with the main full-service brand will give the group greater flexibility in aircraft and crew allocation.
AirJapan was formed in 2000 from an airline called World Air Network. It merged with ANA in 2010. Final operations are planned on all routes on March 28 and 29, 2026.
