In total, the seasonal route, which first operated last year, will offer 284 flights with a total seat capacity of 69,296, and will be the longest route for both Brisbane Airport and American Airlines.

“We are delighted to be the first destination in the South Pacific to welcome American Airlines’ new flagship Dreamliner,” said Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff.

“Across all aviation markets we are seeing growing demand for premium seats, and this aircraft more than delivers.

“This BNE-DFW route is fantastic for Queensland connectivity. During the inaugural season, we saw many Queenslanders connect seamlessly with South America through this hub.

“American Airlines offers extensive connections to North, Central and South America, and we are absolutely delighted to have them back in such style.”

The Brisbane-Dallas flights will be complemented by three weekly flights to Los Angeles in partnership with Qantas, operating from December to January.

According to American Airlines vice president of international operations, José A. Freig, the Brisbane services will strengthen the airline’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

“When we launched our flight to Brisbane last year, our customers were delighted to now be able to fly with American from two Australian destinations to the United States,” he said.

“Next December we are excited to offer even more non-stop flights in Australia with our seasonal Brisbane-Los Angeles route, further strengthening our commitment to this beautiful country and our partnership with Qantas.”

Brisbane Airport is now connected to 35 international destinations and expects a 9 per cent increase in international travel during this year’s summer holidays and a total of 25 million passengers by 2025.

In the coming months, the airport will see the launch or return of a number of international routes, including Delta Air Lines’ seasonal A350-900 service to Los Angeles between November 2 and the end of March; Malaysia Airlines flights to Kuala Lumpur starting in November; and a new Jetstar service to Cebu starting in December.
