This Air France 787 takes center stage in a stunningly beautiful aviation film that highlights the beauty of modern wide-body flight.
Few things lend themselves as much to beautiful cinematography as aviation.
Metal, light, movement and altitude come together when filming a plane against the open sky. When captured well, it can seem almost unreal. Every once in a while, a movie reminds us how wonderful modern flight is.
This video of Air France’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is one of those movies.
This is pure aviation eye candy, with slow, cinematic air-to-air shots and light hitting the fuselage perfectly, with a beautiful soundtrack. The flex of the Dreamliner’s wings is unmistakable. It feels more like a carefully crafted tribute to long-haul flying than a marketing video.
And the plane in the center deserves attention.
Air France currently operates ten Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Deliveries began in November 2016 and ended in 2020, with the first aircraft entering service in January 2017. Today, the fleet averages approximately 7.8 years old. Each aircraft carries 279 passengers in a three-class configuration: 30 Business lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 layout, 21 Premium Economy and 228 in Economy.
Beneath those sculpted nacelles are General Electric’s GEnx engines, which power the model on medium- and long-haul routes to North America, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.
The 787-9 plays a key role in Air France’s long-haul modernization, replacing older aircraft and working alongside the larger Airbus A350 and Boeing 777. It’s a workhorse, but in this video it becomes art.
