A British surfer dies after his board broke in horror weather off the coast of Melbourne when a friend was found dead after trying to save him.

A BRITISH man has been found dead after his surfboard broke while he was in dangerous conditions off the coast of Melbourne.

His 43-year-old friend had tried to save the drowning surfer, but was tragically found dead and found by a police helicopter amid strong 80mph winds.
