With fall in full swing, leaf peepers are hitting the roads again in search of the most stunning colors of the season. According to Google Trends, US searches for “leaves peeking out” have increased by more than 40 percent in the past week alone, and a new study by online gaming site CanadaCasino has revealed where they are headed.
By analyzing Google search data covering well-known fall locations during peak foliage months, CanadaCasino identified the most popular fall foliage destinations in the US this year. Topping the list is Niagara Falls, New York, with over a million Google searches.
Niagara Falls has long been a must-see destination, and fall is arguably the best time to visit, as the waterfall’s cool mist rises against a backdrop of orange, gold, and crimson. Horseshoe Falls, the tallest and most spectacular of the three, are located primarily on the Canadian side, while American and Bridal Veil Falls are located in the US. Second on the list is Aspen, Colorado, with approximately 550,000 Google searches. Glacier National Park took third place, while Acadia and Rocky Mountain National Parks tied for fourth place. Two scenic destinations in Virginia, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Shenandoah National Park, shared the fifth position.
