What you should know:

Saudi Arabian Health Holdingthe largest healthcare provider in the region, and Mass General Brighamone of the world’s largest academic healthcare systems, today announced the next phase of its strategic partnership during the Global Health Expo (GHE) 2025.

– The milestone focuses on advancing the implementation of the Saudi model of care, accelerating nationwide adoption, building national capacity, and strengthening clinical governance to achieve Saudi Vision 2030’s goal of a world-class, patient-centered healthcare system.

Advancing the Saudi model of care

The Saudi Model of Care is a comprehensive prevention-focused framework designed to deliver high-quality, equitable and integrated care across all 20 health clusters in the Kingdom. As the cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 Health Sector Transformation Programme, the model emphasizes preventive health, integration across service levels and greater accountability for outcomes, all based on six pillars of care: wellness, planned care, chronic care, urgent care, safe delivery and palliative care.

Mass General Brigham will serve as a strategic advisor to Health Holding Company and provide expertise and best practices to support the implementation of this national framework.

Dr. Luis Lobon, MD, Vice President of Consulting at Mass General Brigham International, said, “This next milestone underscores our shared commitment to transforming healthcare through knowledge sharing, innovation and sustainable impact, all in support of realizing Vision 2030.”

Tangible results and capacity development

The partnership, established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2023, has already delivered measurable results.

  • Excellence in emergency care: In AlUla, organizations collaborated to transform emergency care services. With support from Mass General Brigham, Prince Abdul Mohsen Hospital’s Emergency Department earned its first national accreditation. This initiative significantly reduced patient wait times while maintaining high standards of care and safety.
  • Leadership Development: Building on this success, the partners launched the Leadership Essentials Program in collaboration with the Institute for Excellence in Healthcare Leadership (IEDLI), the first program of its kind in the Middle East. The inaugural session, held in AlUla in December 2024, trained a new generation of Saudi health leaders.

Plan for global integrated care

The collaboration combines Mass General Brigham’s historic legacy of research and academic medicine with Health Holding Company’s bold national mandate to strengthen service quality and accountability. Representatives from both organizations, including Dr. Luis Lobón and Dr. Michael VanRooen of Mass General Brigham and Dr. Saad Alasiri of Health Holding Company, underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration during a panel discussion at GHE 2025.
