Sant’Erasmo is known as the “Garden of Venice” as the island is home to Osti in Orthoconceived by Cesare Benelli, owner of Al-Covo in Venice. The historic restaurant represents an agricultural project of 13 Venetian restaurateurs who grow seasonal products following natural rhythms. This working agricultural island supplies many of the city’s best restaurants with herbs, vegetables, and the famous purple artichokes celebrated throughout the lagoon.

The flat landscape is the perfect landscape for those looking to live a little adventure. Rent bikes in Camping Ca’Savio and bike through the vineyards (stop by Ortho of Venice for white wine produced in the Venetian lagoon (some bottles are aged underwater in traditional Venetian boats in secret places in the lagoon) and orchards to obtain a distribution of the land. The island also features the 19th-century Torre Massimiliana fortress and the beloved Bacan Beach, popular with Venetians.

The entire private island is home to the Palacio de San Clemente (a Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards property by 2025), a luxury complex centered on a beautifully restored 12th century Romanesque church (built in 1131) surrounded by six hectares of centuries-old gardens.
