Good Golly Astrology – Following the Moon: September 21, 2025

Following the Moon: September 21, 2025

In my analysis of the September 7 Full Moon chart (click here to see the article and chart), I said it described a lunation period in which ideas would be the dominant concern. I also pointed out that this in no way made this graph insignificant because many of the most stupid and destructive actions in human history arose from contradictory ideas. This last lunation period brought us a tragic example of this, with a young man with a particular set of ideas being shot down by another young man with different ideas.

I also said that Neptune’s placement in that Full Moon chart predicted a lunation period full of Neptunian oddities and duplicities. During this lunation we have seen the party that not long ago prided itself on its unrestricted support for freedom of expression, rush to condemn any public statement that differs from its narrative of recent events as “sick” and slanderous. What’s even more Neptunian is that this transformation has apparently gone unnoticed by the general public.

Like the last four lunation maps made in the US, the September 21 New Moon and Eclipse map is dominated by the notable configuration of Pluto, Neptune, Uranus and Saturn. (Click on New Moon to see the chart.) All of these slow-moving planets have oscillated around one degree of their respective signs since June, forming a trine/sextile configuration. This configuration, in itself, is positive, but its placement in our recent lunation charts has often been concerning.

The New Moon on September 21 is no exception. The Sun and Moon are conjunct almost directly opposite Saturn and Neptune. As I said, Neptune was a major player in the last lunar chart, so Neptune’s strange and deceptive influence will continue to be with us. What’s different is that Saturn is playing a bigger role in this chart, and when Saturn enters the picture, things get serious. What might seem ridiculous with Neptune can become political with Saturn.

The strange thing about this outer planet configuration is that every strong connection you make with another planet is accompanied by a couple of positive aspects. In this New Moon chart, this takes the form of a grand trine between the New Moon and Pluto and Uranus. Normally, positive aspects like this calm the negative influence of difficult aspects, but we must be careful not to allow that calming influence to lead us to complacency.

This mix of hard and soft aspects has been the situation with most lunation charts with this configuration, but this New Moon chart presents us with a new wrinkle. In addition to forming a grand trine with the Sun and Moon, Pluto and Uranus also form square aspects. Uranus is square Venus and Pluto is square Mars.

The most worrying thing is the square aspect between Mars and Pluto. Describes extreme actions and bullying behaviors. With this square, power becomes the central issue. Violence is a very real possibility, but the ultimate goal here is domination and that usually has more to do with psychology than brute force.

Venus is in the Eighth House of investment. Its square to Uranus could indicate a shakeup in the economy, but I think any change here would probably be a secondary issue.

Finally, we have Jupiter on the Descendant of this New Moon chart. This is usually a positive indicator, but Jupiter can also represent overconfidence and overextension. Jupiter expands and expansion is not always a good thing.

Overall, I believe that this upcoming lunation period will bring us significant change. We could see a further expansion of the power of the executive branch of our government at the expense of the other two. We could also see a period in which government policy focuses more on ego than good sense. At the same time, the positive aspects of the graph indicate that, for most of us, these changes probably seem distant and easy to ignore (at least for now).
