Life Update | What I’ve been up to since my last blog post | The daily shopaholics

Hello everyone!
If this post has resonated with you, then I am really grateful that I still have some of you who enjoy reading blog posts. I know it’s been quite a while since I last posted here, to be precise: six months.

A lot has changed in mine, in fact even our lives since then (well, thanks to COVID), so as I took my own time to settle into the new phase of life, I realized it was finally time to tell everyone what I’ve been up to since my last post.

Well, to back up: Everyone knows that I got married in 2018 and was living in Mumbai with my husband. I also started working with Tiktok and was really enjoying my work and life there. But since I thought I was finally in the best phase of my life, we had to make an important decision: “move abroad.”

My husband got an amazing job opportunity in December last year, and I had to make this decision: prepare to start our lives together in a big new city, or stay in Mumbai, probably move to a smaller apartment and wait a few months, find another job opportunity, and then join my husband.

But hey, we had less than a month to decide and honestly, I was going through a lot of emotions and thoughts: what if I don’t get my visa later and I can’t join my husband? What if I don’t enjoy living in Mumbai and feel miserable about my decision? I talked it over with my husband, friends and family and finally decided that the right thing to do at that time was to move abroad.

So, here I am, writing this post from my new home in Tokyo, where I moved in February. Those who follow me on Instagram may have seen my updates on house hunting, finally moving, and of course what I’ve been doing to keep busy as we’re all social distancing.

But if you haven’t seen any of those updates, I’m just going to share some photos of what it’s been like living in Tokyo the last few months:

I’ve mostly kept myself busy with workouts at home and most days I just go for a bike ride near my apartment building as it runs past a beautiful creek which makes for a perfect running or biking route.

I was lucky enough to have experienced my first sakura season in Japan, which is literally the best time to be in Japan. Normally people enjoy the sakura season by having hanami, which is basically a picnic event to enjoy the flowers. But since the entire nation is currently in a state of emergency, we decided to skip it this year and simply enjoyed walks around the sakura trees near our house and also visited the famous Meguro River to experience the stunning cherry blossoms.

In addition to continuing with my daily life here, I’ve tried to adapt to the new routine, which is basically being home all the time, enjoying cooking, reading, self-care, and, well, Netflix. I am avoiding going out at the moment, except for shopping and my bike rides, while maintaining social distancing.

I can’t tell you how many times I opened my laptop to post new content or share my Tokyo photos with all of you, but I never managed to finish the posts. It’s just because I have been fighting for this new life, where even though I am in a beautiful city, I feel like I don’t belong here, as I don’t know the local language, I don’t know anyone around me and I also miss my old life.

So if you too are struggling with your life right now or have had setbacks, trust me, you are not alone in this. Everyone goes through difficult times in their life, but you can definitely come out of them much stronger and better. And that is why I finally gathered some strength to write this blog post and share with you all about my life and that although this might not be my time, I know that things will start to take shape soon and I have realized that the best way to feel better is to write down my thoughts, like I used to do before.

You can follow me on Instagramwhere I’m definitely more active than on the blog, but I promise I have a lot of content planned for the blog and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.

Love
nitica
