October 29: Wednesday’s Ligue 1 Double – 9/1 Special, Betting Tips and Predictions

With just three points notably separating the six teams leading the fight for the top of the Ligue 1 table, we have a Wednesday packed with French action.

With all of France’s elite set to take center stage in midweek, we have nine top-flight clashes scheduled across the country.

So, for those of you looking to keep playing on Wednesday, we’ve taken a look at some of the most attractive Ligue 1 betting tips available.

18:00 Metz-Lens

While Metz might have made their famous return to Ligue 1 this season, it is no secret that Les Grenats are considered a clear relegation contender this time around. Last seen with a woeful performance in a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Lille, Stéphane Le Mignan’s men have rightly come under serious scrutiny since opening the 2025/26 campaign. Located in last place in the Ligue 1 standings, the Lorraine team is already seven points away from safety. Likewise, with just two points on the scoreboard in any of their first nine top-flight appearances, Metz will be bracing themselves for another tough test here. Wednesday’s hosts, who marked their return from the October international break with a 4-0 defeat in Toulouse, lost their previous three consecutive appearances by an aggregate score of 13-1. Unsurprisingly, Les Grenats have earned a reputation for their glaring defensive problems and have already scored a staggering 26 goals in Ligue 1 so far this season.

By embarking on what has become a public fairy tale, Lens has already cemented its place as one of Europe’s biggest surprises this season. Continuing to garner a series of plaudits across the continent, Pierre Sage’s men are riding a wave of unprecedented momentum. Last seen putting in another famous performance as they claimed a 3-1 home win against Marseille, Wednesday’s guests travel to Lorraine and were just one point away from moving to the top of the Ligue 1 table. With his team’s spirits red-hot, the former Lyon boss has seen his side register 19 points and they surely smell another golden opportunity here. With back-to-back 2-1 wins against Paris FC and Auxerre either side of the October international break, Sage’s side have also picked up 13 points from their last five Ligue 1 outings. With their sensational purple run underlined by a stellar 3-0 win against Lille on September 20, Lens have also earned a reputation for their goal-scoring performances in the final third.

20:05 Marseille vs Angers

After suffering a collapse at Lens over the weekend, eventually losing 2-1, Marseille are looking for an immediate response here. Likewise, seeing their five-win streak end abruptly earlier in the month when they suffered another 2-1 defeat against Sporting Lisbon while in Champions League action, Roberto De Zerbi’s side suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time since the 2025/26 campaign opened. However, having returned from the October international break with a dramatic 6-2 win against Le Havre, the former Brighton boss is still dreaming of a chance at a true Ligue 1 title this season. Although Marseille might have continued to show some prolonged defensive problems, Wednesday’s hosts have continued to shine with their prolonged success at home. After closing out September with a dominant 4-0 win against Dutch heavyweights Ajax, De Zerbi’s side have won their first five meetings at the Stade Velodrome by an aggregate score of 20-4.

Angers, who gained essential momentum over the weekend by claiming a 2-0 home win against Lorient, will be desperate to use that brave performance as a platform to build on. However, heading into October’s half-week with a 5-0 win in Strasbourg, Alexandre Dujeux’s team is still in the thick of the relegation fight. Going into Wednesday’s clash just one point clear of the relegation zone, Les Scoistes have managed just one win in any of their eight previous Ligue 1 clashes, a streak stretching back to the opening weekend. Considered a crushing underdog when they travel to the Stade Velodrome here, Angers have continued to show some glaring problems on the road. As well as picking up just one point from their first four meetings away from the Stade Raymond Kopa, Dujeux’s side have also recorded just one Ligue 1 victory on their travels since mid-February.
