X’s Grokipedia is online after it briefly crashed

Grokipedia, the encyclopedia powered by xAI assistant Grok, was briefly online on Monday, before quickly crashing. At the time of writing, the website appears to be up and running and contains more than 885,000 articles, according to a counter. your home page.

Musk, who previously attacked Wikipedia has described the project as “a necessary step toward xAI’s goal of understanding the Universe.” Musk and his allies have long claimed that Wikipedia is biased. Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales. has called Musk’s claims about the collaborative encyclopedia are “factually incorrect.”

musk said last week that the launch of Grokipedia had been delayed to “do more work to eliminate propaganda.” In particular, some articles are almost identical to their Wikipedia entries, although Grokipedia does not contain online links to sources in the same format. Such entries have a small disclaimer that “the content is adapted from Wikipedia, under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license.”

In other cases, social media users have already spotted cases where Musk’s worldview is more obvious in the “AI-powered encyclopedia.” Here’s an excerpt from the “university” entry, captured by Bluesky user. Jeremy Cohen.
