10 of the Cheapest Places to Travel for Thanksgiving This Year

Forget the chaos of December: Thanksgiving might be the smartest (and most underrated) time to take a sneaky trip. The long weekend offers a perfect window for a quick getaway before peak holiday crowds and price increases arrive. And this year, travelers have even more reasons to be thankful. According to data from KayakOverall travel costs are trending slightly lower than last year: Average flight prices are down about 2 percent, hotel rates are down 3 percent, and car rental prices are down 8 percent.

To discover the best Thanksgiving travel deals, Kayak analyzed millions of flight and hotel searches made between March 1 and August 31, 2025, for travel between November 21 and 30. Prices reflect average round-trip economy airfare and hotel rates per night for standard double rooms, and while savings cannot be guaranteed, the results speak for themselves. Nearly all of the destinations on this year’s list cost less than $600 total in average flight and hotel costs, and all but one are in the US.

Curious which places made the cut? From crisp fall getaways in Minneapolis and Boston to sun-filled weekends in Las Vegas, these budget-friendly options prove that Thanksgiving could be the perfect time to travel.

A Thanksgiving trip to the Emerald City means panoramic skyline views framed by snow-capped peaks, cozy cafes nestled along cobblestone streets, and, of course, plenty of Pacific Northwest flavor. The season officially begins the Saturday after Thanksgiving (November 29), when Pike Place Market organizes its annual Magic in the market celebration, complete with the lighting of the market’s towering Christmas tree, festive decorations, photos with Santa, and vendors offering seasonal foods and handmade gifts.
