It’s almost 2026 and the Pixels still don’t seem to send notifications on time

Recent reports from Pixel 10 users suggest that Google’s notification issues are not going anywhere. Users in reddit They say their new phones have issues with severely delayed Google Home alerts, and some claim the notifications only arrive after unlocking the device.

If you’re a long-time Pixel user, you probably already know that this isn’t a new problem. Pixel owners have been complaining about delayed notifications for years, spanning models from the Pixel 4 to the latest Pixel 10 series. It’s become one of those ongoing Pixel problems that never seem to completely go away, no matter the software version or hardware generation.

“I got the Pixel 10 Pro at launch and since then it’s impossible to receive notifications on time,” one user wrote. “I have Google Home with camera notifications and Cradlewise for baby notifications, and all notifications are delayed. I would often unlock my phone and see a flood of Google Home notifications pop up about camera activity. Interestingly, these notifications don’t have a timestamp of when the phone was unlocked, but rather when the event occurred.”

Another user added: “Yes, Doze has always been a problem for me, causing late notifications, but lately EVERYTHING is delayed. Even text messages don’t notify me until I unlock the phone. It’s crazy.”

Users suspect, and rightly so, that Android Doze and App Standby Features are behind notification delays on Pixel phones. Doze is a battery optimization feature introduced years ago to extend standby time by restricting background network activity and CPU access when the device is idle. While it helps improve battery life, it can actually defer app activity, including push notifications.

The feature makes sense for most apps, but it can be a real pain for apps that need to send timely alerts, like Google Home, security cameras, or messaging services.

Several users report that disable Sleep Altogether, using ADB (Android Debug Bridge) commands helped fix the issue of delayed notifications on your Pixels. However, the process required a PC and some advanced knowledge and has to be repeated after every reboot, which is not at all ideal.

The problem still affects several Pixel models

As we said before, this is not a new problem for Pixel owners. While this new Reddit thread highlights the issue on the Pixel 10 series, reports of delayed notifications on the Pixel are recurring. Several other threads on Reddit and Google’s own forums. shows reports from Pixel owners facing similar issues on their Pixel 9, Pixel 8, Pixel 8a, and even older models.

“My house has all Pixels, multiple models, and our Home notifications are often delayed even if they appear, and sometimes they appear en masse. Is this a Pixel or Home problem?” asked one commenter.

“I had no problems with my 6a, but I recently updated it and now I have pauses and problems all the time,” another user added.

Despite repeated reports, Google has not released an official fix for the issue. For now, Pixel users need to experiment with battery settings, background app permissions, and ADB settings for notifications to work properly, something that shouldn’t be necessary on a flagship phone in 2025.
