The latest addition to Maddock’s horror comedy universe is Aneet Padda. Her role in the upcoming film Shakti Shalini was confirmed during the post-credits scene of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma. Now, Khurrana has officially welcomed the Saiyaara star to the MHCU and has written him a lovely note.
Expressing his joy for a fellow Punjabi taking up a big project, Ayushmann wrote, “Welcome to MHCU @aneetpadda_ Punjabi aa gaye hey! From one dreamer to another, keep chasing what you want. Nothing is impossible… so proud to see someone from Punjab making us all proud… Can’t wait to see you shine in Shakti Shalini!” Onward and upward, Aneet.”
Along with the note, he shared a screenshot of the post-credits scene that announced Aneet as the lead in Shakti Shalini.
The actress reposted this and wrote, “Khurrana ji da munda is making waves as always.
Thank you very much, that’s a very special bit coming from someone I admire so much. Very grateful for the warm welcome @ayushmannk”
Aneet’s casting for the film was confirmed after much speculation and needless to say, her fans were elated. The actress was introduced along with the film’s tagline that read: “The protector. The destroyer. The mother of all.” Talking about bringing in star Saiyaara, filmmaker Amar Kaushik, who is an important part of MHCU, told Filmfare: “We wanted someone younger for that character, someone who doesn’t have a baggage. We wanted a character like that and it evolved as we continued writing. She is also a very good actress. Not just Saiyaara, but I have seen her work apart from that. She captured things very well during the screen test and reading. We had brought in Abhay Verma in Munjya (2024), which was very new at that time. But he did well with the character, so we stayed with him. That’s our thing.”
Shakti Shalini to be released December 24 next year.
