The WWE icon was devastated when her daughter Marissa was murdered by her boyfriend Charles Warren Reynolds, who strangled her to death in 2003.

WWE’s only Iranian-born champion, Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri, was consumed by furious anguish following the murder of his daughter Marissa at the hands of her boyfriend Charles Warren Reynolds.
It descended into drug-fueled chaos after Reynolds strangled 27-year-old Marissa to death in May 2003.
After the savage murder, Reynolds even kept Marissa’s corpse in their shared bed and lay next to her.

She revealed the plot to the rest of the family to prevent the desperate father’s course of action, and it was his daughter Tanya who finally caught up with him and altered his destiny, according to The Bleacher Report.
Tanya warned him: “You can’t kill him because you’ll get cut in jail. I lost my sister and I don’t want to lose my father.”
After the devastating experience, the WWE legend, famous for wearing the traditional Persian costume, transformed his existence, giving up drugs and overcoming his addiction. However, it was not until 2007 that he managed to turn his life around, and it took his wife leaving him before he promised to become sober in exchange for her return.
Commitment depended on breaking connections with the partner who had fueled his habit. Several years later, Iron Sheik revealed that he had permanently quit cocaine and remained a highly influential wrestler until June 2023, when he passed away at age 81.
Following his death, a statement issued through The Iron Sheik’s Twitter account read: “Today, it is with a heavy heart that we gather to say goodbye to a true legend, a force of nature and an iconic figure who left an incredible mark on the world of professional wrestling.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news of The Iron Sheik’s passing, but we also take comfort in knowing that he departed this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy that will endure for generations to come.”
The Iron Sheik is survived by his wife of 47 years, Caryl, and daughters Tanya and Nikki.
