Cosmic Focus and Great Benefic Planet Jupiter transits Taurus, the fixed sign of the bull, from May 17, 2023 to May 26, 2024. This brings the wisdom of Taurus to the fore, as well as the wisdom gleaned from our bovine friends.
The Cosmic Change Agent, Uranus, is also transiting Taurus at this time (2018 – 2026). Both Uranus and Jupiter will be retrograde in Taurus in the coming weeks: Uranus will be retrograde at 23 degrees Taurus on August 28 and Jupiter retrograde at 15 degrees Taurus on September 4. These astrological indicators suggest some very concentrated themes in the sign of Taurus that involve the wisdom and stability we need to successfully move forward through rapid changes and transitions.
Taurus the Bull does not love change and transition, to say the least. Taurus is a sign that enjoys certainty, stability, routine and regularity, but these things can be very difficult to achieve in these times of artificial rhythm and social engineering. We are going through times of massive change, many of it orchestrated from above, and this can be very challenging for Taurus and all fixed signs. To be honest, it can be very challenging for any of the zodiac signs!
The following is an article I wrote during the last transit of Jupiter in Taurus (June 5, 2011 to June 11, 2012). At that time I was back living on my family’s cattle ranch. These tips, gleaned from the behavior of our cattle herd, can help us better understand the sign of Taurus, especially when stressed by change and transition, and this can help us more successfully navigate the changes and transitions occurring in our own lives and the world around us.
The article was originally published in the main blog on May 19, 2012during the last transit of Jupiter in Taurus.
I grew up on a cattle ranch on the Saskatchewan prairie and spent years there as an adult as well. You really can’t get much more Taurus than working on a ranch. It is life on earth, on the prairies. It is physical work. They are animals and plants and earth, wind and rain, sweat and sun. The work develops according to the natural rhythm, according to the seasons, and follows a similar course each year. Farmers and ranchers are guardians of time in this sense. They work according to old nature-based rhythms and keep those fundamental energetic patterns anchored, just as animals themselves do. When the sun rises, it’s time to work. When it goes down, the work day ends. Simple.
I helped my father and mother on the ranch however I could, and after years of observing cattle while studying astrology, I realized how much you can understand about the sign and energy of Taurus through the behavior of bovines.
Understanding the sign of Taurus through the characteristics of cows
1) Taurus is a fixed sign and cows have a fixed nature. They I don’t really like to move that much.especially if they just had a calf. Cows don’t enjoy the transition. They like their basic routines and are not fans of any disruption or change in those routines.
2) The cows are comfort seekersjust like Taurus. Once they are happy, they like to stay still, enjoying the sun, grazing and ruminating. The only time they can be convinced to favor a change is if an option opens up that gives them even more comfort. This usually involves More or better food: another Taurus favorite..
Each year on the ranch, a portion of the cow and calf pairs were rounded up and trucked to a native-managed community pasture during the spring and summer. Once there, they had all the space and grass they could want, but to get there they had to endure the transition. They had to be moved from pasture to pasture at home and then loaded into pens to be worked before being trucked to the new pasture, and this definitely bothered them a bit. Again, however, If the reward is there, they will endure. – just like Taurus.
To move the cow-calf pairs, my dad rode a horse, and my mother and I (never Amazons) drove one vehicle each across the bumpy pastures in a mini raid. My sweet ride was the 1986 Chevy farm truck. As if on horseback, we spread out to herd cattle. Trying to determine the best way to get cattle moving in the right direction gives us useful tips for interacting with high Taurus people!
3) Cows, like Taurus, I don’t like to be rushed. They like to do things slowly, gradually and at their own pace. When they move, they like it to be related to obtaining basic resources: food, water, shade, shelter from the wind, or a comfortable place to lie down.

4) you I can’t put too much pressure on them.. Cows will accept gentle guidance, but if you push too hard, in the wrong place, or too fast, they won’t do what you want them to do. If they feel excessively pressured, they will rebel or become scared. They can be notoriously stubborn once they have become angry and will even jump a fence to escape. If an entire herd has been scared this way, they will run through a barbed wire fence. Suffice it to say, It’s better to take it easy in both bovines and taurus, giving them plenty of time and adequate space to make their movements.
5) Cows, like Taurus, enjoy working with a limit. The easiest way to move cattle is to gently push them along a fence to an open gate. Carrying them through the middle of open grass is more likely to cause confusion and panic. Boundaries and limitations help them feel safe.
6) Like Taurus, cattle take a while to get going, but Once they have gained some momentum, they follow a steady course.. And once they have a stable course, they move forward quite quickly, without problems or complications.
7) cows practically do what the rest of the pack is doing. This is the traditional aspect of Taurus. Occasionally, there will be a renegade cow that runs off on its own, but generally they like to do what the other cows do, as long as it makes practical, practical sense.
8) They seem very docile and gentle, and they usually are, but cows (like Taurus) They can get very angry (and dangerous) if they feel threatened in any way.. Like most animals, cows are very protective of their young.
9) Like Taurus, after a transition or upheaval, cows They need some time alone to calm down and return to a state of calm and contentment.. Once the pressure is removed, it doesn’t take long for them to return to a stable state. Like Taurus, they are down to earth!

Use these helpful insights into bovine customs to keep the Taurus in your life (and Taurus in your own chart) sweet, calm, content, and moving in the right direction.
I talked about Taurus, bovine behavior, and the 2011/2012 Jupiter transit in Taurus with Matt Savinar on his community radio show on KOWS FM in Occidental, California in May 2012. You can listen to the program at this link.
