On July 24 we will have the powerful and magnetic New Moon at 2 degrees of Leo. New moons are a time of new beginnings, new beginnings and a clean slate to be born again. Leo, the fifth sign of the zodiac, is all about courage, leadership, creativity, joy, children, and fun!
This is a dynamic New Moon cycle. I’ll go into more detail below, but this New Moon in Leo is creating a lot of aspects with its other planetary brothers and sisters. In particular, she is aspects all of the outer planets, so this New Moon phase will affect the ENTIRE collective, as that is the ruling domain of the outer planets (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto). A surge of power and heart-driven desires is the flavor of this New Moon. The courage to see, the courage to act and the courage to follow the heart.
The New Moon in Leo is here to usher in a wave of bold energy mixed with a dash of fun and childlike joy. Do you remember the word JOY? For the most part, we seem to have forgotten what true joy means. Everyone has their own definition, but within a space of joy, creativity, love, and grace can emerge. This New Moon in Leo is a good time to illuminate any type of creative or artistic achievement. It’s time to rise from the ashes and honor your heart like never before! Leo is also associated with leadership and royalty. A new dawn that involves taking risks is favored. Courage implies action. There is now a pronounced emphasis on connecting with your heart and listening to its wisdom. However, real power is not loud. True power is strong and soft. It requires that we be willing to highlight why or who we believe. This next lunar cycle will be about the power of honoring our instincts not from a place of survival but from a position of prosperity!
The New Moon in Leo, as mentioned above, will make MANY aspects to the outer planets. The first aspect will be a trine (120 degree aspect) with Saturn retrograde, the planet of structure, order and obligation + Neptune, the planet of spirituality, illusion and fantasy, both in the sign of Aries. The New Moon in a positive flow into Saturn/Neptune retrograde will be about emotional regulation that comes from a deep spiritual place. Many will be asked to follow an intuitive hunch and many creative projects can finally be structured and supported more in this regard. The second aspect of this New Moon will be an opposition (180 degree aspect) to Pluto retrograde, the planet of death/rebirth, transformation and regeneration currently in the sign of Aquarius. The New Moon opposing Pluto will create powerful and potentially transformative alterations to our emotions. Something emotionally must die to create the space for our desires to truly flourish. This could be met with stubborn resistance, so being flexible is key to success in this regard. The final aspect of this New Moon in Leo will be a sextile (60 degree aspect) to Uranus, the planet of change, upheaval and revolution currently in the sign of Gemini. The New Moon in flow with Uranus could add some out-of-this-world inventiveness to these heart-driven risks. Emotions that are proud and BOLD could come out of nowhere.
For those born with their Sun, Moon or Ascendant signs at or near 2 degrees of Leo (or other fixed signs of: Taurus, Scorpio or Aquarius), expect to see BIG and BOLD new beginnings. The areas of life that will be most affected are: the physical body, family/home, relationships and career. Fortune favors the brave, so to succeed you must be willing to take calculated risks.
