Did Princess Kate wear gold to the state banquet for THIS reason?

Royal observers believe his choice was no accident.

The Princess of Wales lit up Buckingham Palace in a gold lace dress at Wednesday night’s state banquet honoring US President Donald Trump.

A golden moment: Kate Middleton arriving at the State Banquet at Buckingham Palace.

I think we can all agree that Phillipa Lepley’s creation, with its fitted bodice and intricate floral embroidery, was one of her most stunning evening looks yet.

At first, I thought the metallic hue must be a fun nod to the president’s penchant for gold decor. (Trump’s love of gold is no secret. His penchant for luxurious interiors and metallic finishes has long been his signature.) Kate’s shimmery dress could easily be read as a diplomatic nod to that aesthetic.

However, I am now convinced that there was a SECOND meaning behind Kate’s choice of dress: a link to a previous state banquet that took place 22 years ago…

In 2003, the late Queen Elizabeth II hosted US President George W. Bush at Buckingham Palace. That night, she attended the banquet wearing a striking long-sleeved gold dress with intricate gold embroidery. The resemblance to Kate’s banquet outfit has not gone unnoticed!

Was Kate’s choice of dress a deliberate tribute to her grandmother-in-law and the banquet that took place more than two decades ago? I think so.

With the princess, little is left to chance, especially on such important occasions, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Kate had done her research and chosen the color for both reasons.
