Sunny Hostin believes Donald Trump is more of a mob boss than a president.
On Wednesday’s episode of The viewHostin, the show’s legal expert, said the Republican politician and former reality star was “extorting and looting the federal government.” Your comment follows Trump’s recent admission that he “may be” asking for $230 million in compensation from his own Justice Department. for his previous research on him. However, Trump noted that he was not familiar with the details and would donate the money to charity.
“I think we need to speak clearly to people and I think we need to call it what it is: This is giving a mob boss,” Hostin began. “Right? That’s what it is. In my opinion, it is extorting and looting the federal government. And it is extorting and looting the federal government that is already extorting and looting, because, as you mentioned from 2017, his family has earned $3.4 billion dollars.”

Hostin went on to reference Trump got caught on a hot microphone earlier this month telling Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto that he would ask his son Eric to call him. Hostin said he believed their conversation was “probably about a trade agreement” between the two sides.
“What else? How about that $400 million plane from Qatar? Your ‘private plane,'” he said, making air dates. “How about the fact that our tax dollars now – if you get that $230 million – will be used to renovate a White House that, by the way, you never intend to leave?”
Hostin continued: “So that’s what this is. This is a mob boss extorting the government for his own personal gratitude and enrichment, and we as taxpayers are basically providing Trump and his family with a lifestyle he couldn’t otherwise afford.”
Even The viewRepublican panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin acknowledged that the measure “did not put America first” as Trump promised. “Honestly, I’m frustrated right now,” she said. “I find all this exhausting. I understand why people hate politicians: they hate Washington.”
Griffin noted that “the economy is not doing well” right now.
“There is There are more people out of work than there are jobs available. “Right now,” he said, “unemployment is too high.” Americans right now are fall behind on car loan payments. Sellers in the US real estate market outnumber buyers right now. And let’s not talk about the farmers right now who have crops they invested money in and have nowhere to sell them because of Trump’s tariffs.”

Basically, Griffin said, it’s the antithesis of why many people in her family and close to her voted for Trump in 2024.
“They wanted to feel like this was focused on the American people who are struggling because it’s so hard to get ahead right now. This is the exact opposite of that,” he said. “Are you using taxpayer money to enrich yourself, or maybe you’re donating it to charities or the White House? Focus on the people. It’s never been harder to get ahead than it is now, and you just feel completely out of touch.”

Whoopi Goldberg admitted that she didn’t know if Trump cared about the people who voted for him and were “counting on him to make things better.” He also reiterated his claim that Republicans and Democrats should stop accepting their paychecks during the current government shutdown.
“You just have to stop because you’re not… the American people, man, you better pay attention to what they say,” he said. “They’re not playing with you. Seven million people came out of their houses and walked around and said, ‘We’re not happy, we’re not happy, we’re not happy.’ That’s a lot of ‘we’re not happy’!”
