Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were Hollywood’s power couple. They left their fans heartbroken when they announced their separation in 2016, two years after getting married. As the details of the divorce are being finalized, the couple’s legal battle has once again gained attention. The couple is involved in a high-profile legal battle over French winery Chateau Miraval.

Brad Pitt sues Angelina Jolie for $35 million

According to a People report, Brad Pitt is suing Angelina Jolie for $35 million in damages over the sale of Chateau Miraval. Pitt’s legal team presented evidence of communications from Jolie’s team regarding the sale of the French winery in 2021. In response, Jolie’s lawyer wrote:

“We note that the onerous nature of any production is a matter of [Pitt’s] creation of his own: he is suing Jolie for $35 million in damages. As a result, you have to incur the expense of presenting documents that will prove (or not prove) those damages.”

The October 2023 email from Angelina Jolie’s team also said that Brad Pitt requested compensation for alleged damage to Miraval’s ongoing operations. Jolie’s team also mentioned Pitt’s continued refusal to produce legal documents, as they are key to the case.

About Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s winery lawsuit

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bought the French winery Château Miraval when they were married. He claimed that she sold her stake in the company to a third party without his consent. Brad filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife, Angelina, in February 2022, alleging that she had made the sale despite a prior agreement that neither would do so without the other’s approval.

On June 30, 2025, the F1 Star filed a court document detailing its efforts to remove Alexey Oliynik, an employee of the Stoli Group. The actor claimed that Alexey had firsthand knowledge of Angelina Jolie’s sale of the French winery in 2021. Both Brad and Angelina own 50 percent of Miraval. Angelina used her LLC, Nouvel, to buy her shares. Brad used his LLC, called Mondo Bongo, to buy out his stake. However, Nouvel sued Brad for $350 million, accusing him of misusing the winery’s assets.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie share six children. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024, almost a decade after the actress filed for divorce. Her legal team has stated in court documents that Brad refused to buy the winery business from her because she would not sign a confidentiality agreement.
