…Thamma is a bold and ambitious leap for Indian genre cinema and this ever-expanding Maddock horror universe, and it lands firmly on its feet…

…In conclusion, Thamma is a well-produced, competently acted, and visually appealing addition to Maddock’s horror-comedy universe. It entertains, amuses and sometimes surprises, but it also reveals a genre that is approaching creative fatigue. Thamma proves that the universe still bites, even if the fangs aren’t as sharp as they used to be…

…Overall, Thamma feels less like another installment in the franchise and more like the moment MHCU really finds its groove. It combines humor and heart with surprising confidence, leaving you curious about what’s next… and for once, that curiosity seems well deserved…

…Thamma’ is an interesting attempt at the horror comedy genre, and if you are a fan of the universe and Ayushmann Khurrana. However, it doesn’t live up to Maddock Films’ previous hits like ‘Stree’ and ‘Bhediya’. Despite many advantages, ‘Thamma”s length, screenplay and repetitive humor weigh it down. All in all, if you’re a fan of Maddock’s horror universe, this movie may be worth your time. But get ready for normal entertainment. IndiaTV gives the film 3 out of 5 stars….

…Thamma ends on an exciting note, teasing the next chapter of the horror-comedy universe. With its engaging humour, strong performances, clever visuals and inventive visuals, it’s a thoroughly entertaining watch and one that keeps the Stree universe alive and well…

…As the innocent yet fierce Tadaka, Rashmika effortlessly outshines Ayushmann. It even stands out in the action scenes. His character arc had enough potential to carry the film, but the male lead drives the narrative…

…The film has been directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the same man who enthralled audiences with his previous blockbusters Munjya and Kakuda. With Thamma in his basket, just like when one thought he would achieve a horror series hat-trick, he comes clean! Even though he is an expert in horror comedies, Thamma’s crazy script fails to bring out the ‘hit director’ in him…

…Thamma is fast-paced and definitely entertains if that’s just what you’re looking for. But the script’s inconsistencies are hard to ignore. The narrative rises, falls, and then falters again, leaving the film uneven at best. For a horror, it’s never scary; For a comedy, it’s not funny enough. In the end, the movie becomes a chaotic mix of Twilight and Lokah and what we do in the mix of Shadows and Dracula. Not bad for Diwali but nothing to celebrate either….

…Nawazuddin Siddiqui brings an exceptional level of flash and style to the lead role. It’s a brilliantly modulated performance even when it seems to border on the excessive. This, to some extent, is true of the film as a whole. Sometimes it teeters on the edge but it never falls….

…Thamma was capable of much more. This is the first time a mainstream Hindi film has explored the myths surrounding vampires. Yes, there is masala, plenty of it. But the previous MHCU films had raised our expectations so high that by the end of Thamma, you will feel high and dry…

…Journalism triumphing over corruption is a fantastic metaphor, but Khurrana’s stale timidity, Mandanna’s restrained Hindi, and a film that competes with itself to recall as many Maddock references as possible, just… sucks. Nothing beats (a vacation on Jet 2) and the sour expression on my face when I’m forced to witness multiple recreations of the embarrassing “Dame Un Grr” Instagram trend in this movie…

…Ayushmann’s performance is reminiscent of his early years: sincere but a little insecure. It’s not the confident ease of ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ nor the conviction and intensity of ‘Article 15’. Rashmika fares better than some of her recent outings, but she too can’t overcome the patchy writing. Paresh Rawal and Faisal Malik do what they can, while Nawaz’s over-the-top villainy becomes more of a distraction than a threat….

…It’s the rhythm that Abhishek Bannerjee, who steps up for a walk-in role, nails: his entry elicited the loudest laugh at my first show on the first day. Paresh Rawal’s performance as Goyal Sr adds to the heaviness, even though he gets a clever line: Ayushmann bhava, he says to his son, and we smile, as we should, that momentary intelligence that takes us beyond the rush of ‘Vikaspuri ke wolverines’ and ‘Sarojini Nagar ke saste Draculas’…

…Since the memory of Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra is still fresh in the minds of everyone who loved it, it would be difficult for films like Thamma to evade comparisons with the Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer, which did a much better job with a similar concept. It had better heroes, antiheroes and villains. Even if one were to evaluate Thamma on his own merits, the flaws far outweigh the strengths. Lokah was a home-cooked meal; Thamma is processed food….
