Horror as ‘naked’ body of British man found in vacant lot on holiday island, sparking police investigation

POLICE are investigating the death of a British man whose “naked” body was found in a vacant lot in Mallorca.

Police on the island have confirmed his nationality and say they are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine their next step.

The horrifying discovery occurred yesterday around noon on the Spanish island.

A group of workers raised the alarm after seeing the man’s body hidden in the bushes while they were working in the area.

Local reports say he was lying lifeless on his back and without clothes.

Workers called 999 and police cordoned off the area, near a stunning cove in southeast Mallorca called Cala Lombards, when they arrived.

Well-placed sources said today that there were no obvious signs of violence on the man’s body or at the scene, but they did not rule out any possible scenario until after the autopsy.

The autopsy will be carried out later today at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Palma.

The Civil Guard, the investigating police force, confirmed today: “The deceased has been identified as a British citizen.

“The alarm was raised yesterday afternoon by a worker in the area around noon yesterday.

“The area in question is Cala Llombards in the municipality of Santanyí.”

The force spokesman said he could not confirm local reports that the dead man was completely naked when he was found.

He added: “It is something that the autopsy will have to confirm but we understand that he was 64 years old.

Detectives have not yet commented on whether he was on holiday in Mallorca or lives on the island, but he is believed to be a local resident.

A person who lives near the spot where he was found dead said he believed he had seen the man walking alone in the area before yesterday’s grim discovery.

In June, a British tourist died after falling onto some rocks at night near a beautiful white-sand Majorcan beach.

The tragedy occurred in Cala Águila, a large white sand beach surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes in the northeast of Mallorca, a short drive from Capdepera.

Friends of Ben, who described himself on Facebook as a self-employed carpenter from Andover, Hampshire, called him “one of the good ones” and a “great guy” as they spoke of their surprise at hearing the news, with one of them admitting he was “completely gutted”.

On May 19, a British woman died after falling from a picturesque spot in Mallorca.

The 39-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital seriously injured after the drama, but she did not manage to overcome her injuries.

He fell about 60 feet from a viewpoint in the Es Jonquet neighborhood of Palma, overlooking the sea.

Local police and paramedics responding to an emergency call stabilized her at the scene before activating a “Green Alert” to ensure she arrived at the hospital as quickly as possible by clearing traffic for the ambulance transporting her.

After the tragedy they confirmed that they were not looking for anyone else in relation to what happened and that the woman’s death was not being treated as a crime.
