Celina Jaitly’s heartfelt message for her brother
celina The writ petition regarding the alleged detention of his brother was heard in open court by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sachin Datta. The Delhi High Court issued a notice to the Government of India, directing it to submit a status report on the matter and appoint a nodal officer to coordinate assistance and facilitate communication between the family and the relevant authorities. After the hearing, Celina took to social media to express her emotions and described the court’s direction as a long-awaited ray of hope. In an Instagram post, she wrote:
“After 14 arduous months, I have finally reached the light at the end of the dark tunnel. You fought for us, bhai, now it’s time for us to support you.”

What is the case so far?
Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, a retired Indian Army officer, has reportedly been detained in the United Arab Emirates for over a year. The exact charges against him remain unclear, but his family has maintained that he has been held without adequate communication or access to legal counsel. In light of the prolonged detention, a petition was filed before the Delhi High Court seeking the intervention of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to ensure consular assistance and facilitate contact between Major Jaitly and his family.

In its recent hearing, the Delhi High Court directed the MEA to facilitate communication between Major Jaitly, his wife (who resides in the UAE) and his family in India. The court also asked the ministry to submit a detailed status report outlining the steps Indian authorities were taking to help it. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for December 4, 2025.

The court upholds the order
The petition filed before the court maintains that as an Indian citizen, Major Jaitly is entitled to legal and consular support from the Indian government under domestic and international law, including the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. The petition filed before the Delhi High Court not only sought assistance in establishing communication with Major Jaitly but also sought financial aid, medical support and direct consular access. He urged the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to ensure that their rights are respected under international law, including the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (1963).
