Everton’s River Mersey-inspired 2025/26 third kit has a unique feature

Everton have unveiled their new third kit for the 2025/26 season, and opinion is already divided for a very unusual reason.

Designed by Castore, the kit reimagines the waves of the River Mersey in a bold and colorful design inspired by local graphic artist Neil Keating.

The black shirt, with a round neckline, incorporates a blue and yellow abstract pattern throughout the body, imitating the flow of the river that passes by Everton’s new stadium. The look is completed with black shorts and matching socks, with blue and yellow stripes on the fold.

But the real topic of conversation is what is missing.

The third kit does not feature the club’s traditional crest. Instead, the shirt features a simple white pentagon on the chest, symbolizing Prince Rupert’s Tower, the town’s historic castle that has long been part of Everton’s badge.

While some fans praised the design as bold and forward-thinking, others criticized the absence of the crest, saying it removes part of the club’s identity.

Whichever side of the debate you fall on, one thing is for sure: when Everton take to the field in this kit, they will be hard to ignore.

Whether it becomes a cult classic or a forgettable experiment will probably depend on the results obtained from using it. After all, nothing makes a jersey look better than winning.
