Thank you post to Abhishek Bachchan:
Abhishek Bachchan has been quietly carving out a space for himself with small-budget solo films that have garnered critical acclaim. He is slowly building his CV and, more importantly, keeping his inner actor alive.
In the early 2010s, he was a part of several big commercial stars – Bol Bachchan, Dhoom 3, Happy New Year, Housefull 3 – but after a point, he clearly wanted to move away and focus on lead solo roles. Those offers weren’t exactly pouring in, so he began collaborating with younger, often struggling directors (or sometimes directors from his father’s circle) and ended up making some really interesting films.
Smaller projects like Manmarziyaan, The Big Bull, Bob Biswas, Dasvi, Ghoomer, I Want to Talk, Be Happy and Kaalidhar Lapata may not be commercial successes; most made it to OTT or flopped in theaters, but they reflect a clear intention: acting.
In the midst of this, he’s still making the occasional big movie, Housefull 5 and the upcoming KING next year. But it’s the smaller films that deserve recognition. They are the ones that will eventually define his filmography and show the range he is building, little by little.
