It has eight bedrooms and six bathrooms, a long gallery, a separate apartment for the staff, a tennis court and a large pond. The house is protected by a ha-ha, a sunken fence commonly installed in landscaped gardens in the 18th century to give the illusion of an uninterrupted view while providing boundaries for grazing livestock.
The move was announced in August and the prince and princess initially planned to move in by Christmas.

After everything they had been through, the prince and princess decided that they simply needed to “get out” of Adelaide Cottage and start over. The telegraph was said.
“Moving gives them a chance for a fresh start and a new chapter; a chance to leave some of the unhappy memories behind,” a source said.
“This is a long-term measure. The family’s intention is to remain in their new home after the change of reign.”
The freehold is owned by the Crown Estate and the Welsh will pay market rent.
