Roots CEO Meghan Roach catches Bo Bichette’s home run in decisive Game 7

The Blue Jays fan who caught Bo Bichette’s home run in the third inning of Saturday’s World Series deciding game turns out to be the head of another iconic Canadian brand.

Meghan Roach, Roots executive director, said the ball came directly toward her in Section 148 of the Rogers Centre, just a few rows over the center field wall.

He said he grabbed him after he fell at his feet during the fun Game 7 in front of a sold-out crowd.

Bichette hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning, the first home run of his playoff career. It put the Blue Jays ahead 3-0 at the time and sent fans into a frenzy inside the stadium.

Roach said catching the ball was an “overwhelming” experience.

“It fell right in front of my feet and I literally picked it up,” he said Saturday. “It’s a fantastic experience catching the ball and I can’t wait to take it home to my two daughters.”
