“Where did you get that rug?” is one of the questions I am asked most frequently. Rugs were the first major decor item I started collecting when I moved into my first apartment. Below you will find my favorite places to look for and buy rugs (I almost always do the first one). There is a wide variety of brands, prices and styles represented below, for several reasons.
Even if you plan to buy cheaper rugs, I recommend looking for brands with rugs in all price ranges. In my experience, becoming familiar with what is available from different designers and in different stores is one of the best ways to get to know your style and what appeals to you most. I’ve found that if I expose myself to unique and interesting pieces, even if they’re out of my price range, I learn to easily pick up the great pieces at stores with lower prices.
These are my favorite places to buy rugs right now.
1. Lulu and Georgia

I love what Lulu and Georgia is doing with his rug collaborations. He Sarah Sherman Samuel Collection It’s iconic! Along with the plaid rug we have in our current home, we had one of the rugs from this collection in the master bedroom of our previous home and we loved it.
2. Chair

Chair It’s a place where I love to look for rug styles, even though most are out of my price range. On rare occasions, I will make a low offer; I’ve even accepted that offer before (the antique rug in the family room is from Chairish, as is the antique rug in the entryway)! They still cost an arm and a leg, but they are always pieces from a reputable site. Keep in mind that Chairish’s return policy is very strict, so if you buy one here and don’t like it, you only have forty-eight hours to submit your return.
3. Loloi

loloi is an amazing source for affordable, kid-friendly (or pet-friendly!) rugs. They have rugs in so many gorgeous styles, no matter your personal design taste. We have used them in areas where we know the kids and dog will play a lot or are more likely to spill.
4. Annie Selke
Annie Selke carries very high quality rugs for modern and traditional spaces. I love bold colors and graphic prints. we have a Annie Selke runner (pictured above) for the basement kitchen and I combined several rugs in a runner for our basement stairs. We also had this mini checkered rug in our house for many years.
5.Bay

I love eBay for the DEALS you can find if you are willing to be patient and/or negotiate. I bought a Swedish kilim runner on eBay for our bedroom hallway (pictured above).
6. ECARPETGALERIA

ECARPETGALLERY is a great source for heavily discounted antique rugs. We have rugs from this store in Joe’s office and in my office/library. This is usually my first stop to see if a style I found on a site with more expensive pieces is available here at a lower price. They update inventory frequently and have sales throughout the year, so it’s worth keeping this place on your radar.
7. Nordic knots

Nordic Knots carries rugs in solid colors and graphic patterns that are manufactured in relatively small batches. We have two rugs here: one red carpet in the dining room (pictured at the top of this post) and a cream rug in the master bedroom (pictured above). What you can expect is that these rugs will tend to shed during the first few months of use, so you may need to consider additional vacuuming.
